Time Trial
20 Mile Cycling Course
May 9, 2010

COURSE INFORMATION
REGISTRATION LOCATION:  You will be exiting from I-74 at Exit  #119 (State Rd. 244).  Registration is East on State Rd. 244 about 1.5 miles.  Registration is at the intersection of S. 600 E. and St. Rd. 244 in a little one room school house.  It is easy to see and will be marked.  You will see us all there getting ready!

PARKING:  We have limited parking at the registration area.  You can park there on on the road (600 E.) or we have some parking in the grassy area by the school house.  If you are familiar with the area, you may want to park at the church located by the I-74 interchange and ride the 1.5 miles to the school house.

WARMING UP:  There is ample warm up area on S. 600 E. and we will have some floor area available in the school house if you want to warm up on your trainer.

THE COURSE:  We think you're going to LOVE it!  We have been out  riding it the last few weeks with friends and we think it is going to be great.  The road is smooth and nice and the wind tends to be favorable out there.  I have to warn you - there are a few significant hills at about 1.5 miles, 6.5 miles and 8 miles.  They are not big grinders by any means but they are....well....hills and they will mess with your mind! haha!  We have found they look MUCH bigger than they are when you are approaching them.  But if you keep your head together, we have found that on the return trip they are actually very beneficial on the averages.  The turn around is about 1/2 mile from State Rd. 3.  We will have flaggers at the turn around but you need to be very aware of any traffic and watch your turn.  It is a bit tight.  The course is not closed to traffic so it is important that you stay to the right of your lane at all times and don't EVER cross the double yellow center line.  There is one "S" curve 1.5  miles from the start/finish.   STAY ON YOUR SIDE OF THE ROAD!  It is possible that you could encounter a HORSE AND BUGGY situation as there are Amish in the area.   If you are approaching a horse and buggy from behind, you will proceed in passing them the same as if you were in a car.  Make sure there is no oncoming traffic, etc.  They travel at about 6-7 mph so it should not be too much of issue if you encounter one.

AWARDS:  Gray Goat Sports is donating prizes for the top three male and female finishers.  In addition, all riders will receive mph tokens that depict the mph achieved.  For example, if you break 16 mph, you will get your 16 mph coin.  If you break 23 mph, you will get your 23 mph coin, etc.  Coins will be issued upon completion, but, obviously, we won't be able to do overall awards until all riders have completed the course.  Therefore, you are welcome to hang around but  if you want to leave early, we will make sure we get your award to you either by mail or at the June Time Trial if you are participating in that one.

YOU CAN WIN $100:  I need to make you aware that this May 9th Time Trial is the first of 8 Energy2Action Cycling Events.  If you participate in all 8 cycling events in 2010 your name is put into a drawing for $100 cash on 9/25/10.  Obviously, anyone who misses this first time trial is automatically out of the contest.  Your odds could be good.  We have only 10 runners left in the running contest becuse the first race in February was cold and snowy!  Good luck!  More contest rules.
